Craving a decadent cup of rich creamy hot chocolate? I’ve scoured Denton County and found the creme de la creme of cocoa shops for you to indulge in.
Mix It Up — Unique Locations
When it comes to hot chocolate, your first inclination may be to head to your favorite coffeehouse chain. Stop yourself! There are incredible, one-of-a-kind neighborhood cafes that are far more interesting. These two options are the perfect blend of ambience and deliciousness.
One of my personal favorite spots is Kimzey’s Coffee in Argyle. It feels as if you’re stepping into Snow White’s cottage at this whimsical cafe. It offers a fantastic hot chocolate that reminds me of my mom’s homemade cocoa. You even have the option of adding marshmallows on top!
Is it Lewisville or is it the UK? The London Baker, owned by Elizabeth Rowe, winner of the Netflix show “Is it Cake?” has a stunning local cafe that will transport you across the pond. The charming bakery is adorned with velvet couches, gold accents, and even a quintessential British red telephone booth. Raise your pinky and savor Rowe’s decadent hot chocolate made with savory melted chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and topped with a dash of honey and cream.

Perfect Blend — Uncommon Flavors
Looking for a different twist on your favorite chocolaty drink? There are a few local spots that pour delicious versions of the classic hot cocoa.
Since it is Texas, and old man winter doesn’t seem to visit us too often, you may not always be in the mood for a hot beverage. The frozen hot chocolate from The Human Bean located in Lewisville has the perfect choice for those toasty Texas days.
Hot chocolate doesn’t always have to be a conventional beverage. Oak Street Pie Company in historic downtown Roanoke sells a Mexican hot chocolate pie. It is made of luscious, silky smooth chocolate with a kick of cinnamon and cayenne.
Marty B’s may be famous for its western-themed barbecue, but its coffee shop is brewing up a reputation as the go-to hangout for coffee and hot chocolate. Located in Bartonville Town Center, Marty B’s Coffee has an upscale Texas Hill Country vibe complete with a cozy outdoor fireplace where you can enjoy your favorite drink. When it comes to hot cocoa, Marty B’s pours a white chocolate mocha that is pure heaven. Be sure to top it off with one of the many syrups, like toasted marshmallow or salted caramel.

Let’s face it, the most magnificent hot cocoa requires quality chocolate. These two options are a dream come true for chocolate enthusiasts.
Fort Worth-based artisanal coffee roaster, Avoca Coffee, has a shop in Denton that serves up rich hot chocolate made with Wiseman House chocolate ganache and expertly textured milk.
Seven Mile Cafe doesn’t just have a fantastic breakfast menu, it also has two amazing cocoa selections.
